Favorite Writing #IWSG πŸ“šπŸ’™ an Email Scam and Banned Books

Shout-out to Alex and the awesome co-hosts for today: Beth Camp, Crystal Collier, and Cathrina Constantine!

Oct 1 question - What is the most favorite thing you have written, published or not? And why?

I still love my (Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Myths and Legends, Speculative Fiction, New Adult, "Superhero Fantasy") Existence series, the first of which is Fractions of Existence. I still get giddy on the rereads at certain scenes. (My favorite being when Xavier and Wend are at the pier.)

  1. I was thinking if they were going to charge for it, yes it's a scam - and they do! Never pay for stuff like that.

  2. Yes, it sounds like a scam. I've been getting lots of scam emails offering to help me promote my nonexistent book.

  3. Goodness, people are crazy! Yeah, scam 100%. You know, urban fantasy used to be my go-to genre. Still quite fond of it.

  5. Beware of those scams. They're so annoying.
You have a wide range of writing/reading interests. I love that.

  6. Anything that asks for money is likely a scam, or at least very sketchy.

The one that I did not understand was awhile ago on BlueSky, when people were going around pretending to be famous and semi-famous authors who were... just chatting with people, pretending to be random authors. They didn't appear to be asking for anything, they were just getting off an catfishing people, I guess? I exchanged several pleasant and encouraging messages with someone I thought was Annie Proulx (author of Brokeback Mountain and The Shipping News) before they suddenly disappeared and were banned by the platform. Very odd.
