Theme Reveal #AtoZChallenge Blog Hop 2026

Please check out the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge

My theme for the 2026 A to Z Challenge is Plotting Book Three in my Existence series — Cave of Existence.

This is some of the structure, or "beats," for an alphabet-worth of the book. (Approximately the first 2/3 of the novel.) Some authors find that having a structured plan in place before writing is helpful. Using the alphabet, I've created the basic plan for a large part of the novel, and I'll be sharing that here with you.

Posts will be about this writing project, but not excerpts of the book itself.

The goal of my author blog is to share "behind the scenes" goodies on my books, and to establish my author "brand." Readers should feel welcome here. Like a mixer party🍷🍸🍻🍵☕- visiting this blog should feel like an opportunity to get to know me, my characters, and fellow commenters.

(It also lets me take part in really fun blog hops and connect with fellow bloggers!)

I am the team leader and a co-host of the A to Z Challenge, so once April starts, I will be very busy. I try to comment on every blog in the challenge. (Assuming I don't need to "sign up" or "subscribe" to something just to comment.) However, I am open to prewriting a few guest posts if anyone is looking for a guest contributor for your A to Z blog this April. Leave a comment and be sure I know how to reach you.

The theme I intend to do on my blog this year is a fantasy story. Not just the story, but some of the process of writing it as well. I hope you'll drop in to read it!

#AtoZchallenge 2024 Theme Reveal and #IWSG AI

I had hoped to have the high fantasy novella I've been working on to be done before April. Due to a death in the family and other issues, that didn't happen. So I am using the challenge to write about the process of self-publishing a novella.

The official theme reveal sign-up will open on March 10.

March 6 question -

Have you "played" with AI to write those nasty synopses, or do you refuse to go that route? How do you feel about AI's impact on creative writing?

I feel as if I've answered this to the best of my ability already. https://jlennidorner.blogspot.com/2023/10/artificial-writing-iwsg-operation.html

#IWSG #PassorPages Romance Query and #AtoZChallenge Theme Reveal 2022

http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/p/2022-badge-graphics.html

I plan to have my #AtoZChallenge 2022 theme as

speculative fiction from a dreamer.

What I feel would really put this over the top is if I could get some prompts from you, my blog visitors.
A name, a setting, a scenario -- anything that could be dreamed up and used in speculative fiction.

Please leave it in the comments (or send me a DM on Twitter @JLenniDorner).
Before March 25, please! Thanks to everyone who helps.

(And if you use Twitter, leave me your handle so I can give you a shoutout when your prompt is used.)

You'll notice this year that we've added pronouns as an option. Not only to avoid people being misgendered (Me! This happens to me online. Doesn't happen offline, though my hair is now long enough to strangle a person... just ask my Snookums. 😍😄), but also to encourage the normalcy of stating pronouns. If only certain groups offer pronouns, then it becomes exclusive instead of inclusive. Of course, it will remain OPTIONAL, because no one is ever required to share their pronoun preference with anyone.

Shout-out to Alex and the awesome co-hosts for today: Janet Alcorn, Pat Garcia, Natalie Aguirre, and Shannon Lawrence!

March 2 question - Have you ever been conflicted about writing a story or adding a scene to a story? How did you decide to write it or not?

There is a scene in the second Existence book that I've deleted and put back and deleted again. I wrote it long ago. Then it happened. Like, actually happened. So I tried to rewrite it, but then it didn't work in the story. I left it as it was, but then another year went by, and it felt like I took from the headlines and wrote something in poor taste. Which isn't true because, as I said, I wrote the scene before it came true. (Granted, it probably didn't come true because of my character. There is logical science.)

There was also a scene in Fractions of Existence, the first book in the series, that came true. But the book was published a few months beforehand. And only a handful of people know that it happened, so it isn't as big of a deal. (Though you could have knocked me over with a feather when a scroll on social media showed a picture of the scene from my head.)

2021 #atozchallenge Theme Survey Results

Thank you to the 23 readers who stopped by to answer my survey.

I will spend April doing a mixed theme. I'll post about my favorite blogs, my TBR, answer the three questions (though I don't know what "Why did he do that?" means yet), have some flash fiction, and also recommend books for children. (I'm not a parent, but in non-Covid times I did work with children.)

As for games, check out the main A to Z blog on THURSDAYS this April. I have a fun month planned.

J's Survey for the Theme Reveal 2021 #atozchallenge

Oh no! I spent so much time and effort on A to Z for the main blog and the Operation Awesome blog, that I forgot about my own blog! So I shall turn to you -- what should I do as my theme for April? What would interest you?

CLOSES MARCH 18

#AtoZchallenge 2020 Theme Reveal #AuthorBrand

On my previous blog, I posted about my author brand. It started after I read a book that included the subject. Every month I would do my goal check-in posts. And every month I'd notice that I didn't focus enough or evenly on what I feel is my author brand. So, for the April A to Z Challenge 2020, I'm going to focus on my author brand topics each week.

• Characters and Settings (Mondays)
• Speculative Fiction (Tuesdays -- includes a WEP Flash Fiction post)
• Reading and then writing book reviews (Wednesdays)
• About J Lenni Dorner (Thursdays)
• Legends, Myths, and Storytelling (Fridays) A continuous story told in parts!
• Lenni Lenape /Native American interests (Saturdays)
