While nearing the end of Proof of Existence, a reader might think The Eyes in the Shadows aren't so bad. Antagonists but not evil. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Yet, in this scene, they're holding seven girls hostage while waiting to take the blood from their first periods to end humanity.
M is also for Monsters, and in Proof of Existence, the monsters are human.

QUESTION — Sometimes we learn new vocabulary words from books. Did you know what "Menarche Blood" meant?

  1. I didn't know this expression although coincidentally I'm also writing a story where human monsters use monarche blood to maintain their magic.

  2. I had no idea what "Menarche Blood" meant. Now I do. Thanks.

  3. Yeah, this scene is why my review is prefaced with a trigger warning.

    Ronel visiting for M:
    My Languishing TBR: M
    Mystifying Muse

  4. I did know what menarche blood meant, but then I’m a nurse and should know. Looking at your theme has given me the thought that next year I should have a book written that I can use as a theme. Thank you.

  5. I'm amused that I'm the guy who knows this.
Says something that I learned this while NOT attending school. Yet people who do go to school, even the "very good district" ones, even people who experience it, don't know it.

  6. I´m lucky to say that sex-ed was far better at school than at home and I had bigger cousins than me.
I still wonder why would that first blood be so special... hormones perhaps?
Sometimes I asked myself why some wiccan or witchcraft rituals required some specifical items, like Red Roses Incense, or White Roses Incense, some would ask for Sandalwood, others, anyone but Sandalwood. Would the deities, spirits or elementals summoned tell the difference?
