Astrology plays a hidden role in the Existence series. In this scene, Heath uses it as part of an icebreaker as he introduces himself. Both Heath and Xavier have birthdays in book two, neither of which are ideal celebrations. Xavier, Jez, Heath, and Wend all have birthdays on the 20th of their birth month.

ReplyDeleteI´ve always found interesting how people say that our personalities depend on our signs. I´m a virgo, but you´ll never guess because I´m quite messy, and they have a fame of being quite tidy. On the chinese horoscope I´m a metal rooster, somehow it matches my personality better.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not over here charting my schedule based on my sign. (Which is largely a guess anyway.) But it's a fun way to deepen characters. Plus, sometimes readers like when they share a birthday with a character.
